Salmonellosis

Salmonellosis is the most common form of food poisoning. It is caused by eating food contaminated with bacteria belonging to the genus Salmonella. In the USA, it is estimated that Salmonella infects up to 4 million people annually. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. The disease can be fatal in infants, the elderly, and individuals with a weakened immune system.
