World Homeopathy Day: 10 April Hahnemann's birthday

Homeopathic physicians worldwide celebrating founder's birthday on 10th April. Functions and seminars are being organised across the country and abroad to observe World Homoeopathy Day on Friday.

10th of April every year is observed as World Homeopathy Day. People across the global commemorate the birth day of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the German physician, who is the founding father of Homoeopathy.

Samuel Christian Hahnemann created and developed the system called homeopathy. It is also known as similia similibus curentor or "let like be cured by like.". Although his new methods initially met with ridicule and criticism, by the time of his death they were accepted the world over as a result of the great success he had with his new cure.

In India, several of the institutions are offering free consultations and medicine at affordable prices to the patients to mark the day. Health experts say of late, homoeopathy is playing an important role in the health-conscious India with more and more people attracting towards it.

The medical fraternity of homeopathy doctors are of the view that it is fast emerging as the most reliable technique of treatment around the world.

The first homeopathic medical society, the Hahnemann Society, was organized on this date in 1833, in Philadelphia. This society was named after Samuel Hahnemann, who is credited with founding the practice of homeopathy in the mid-18th century.

Homeopathy, or homeopathic medicine, is a holistic system of treatment that originated in the late eighteenth century. The name homeopathy is derived from two Greek words that mean "like disease." The system is based on the idea that substances that produce symptoms of sickness in healthy people will have a curative effect when given in very dilute quantities to sick people who exhibit those same symptoms. Homeopathic remedies or homeopathic medicine are believed to stimulate the body's own healing processes.
