Cleveland clinic performs US's first face transplant

Cleveland Clinic announces that a team of physicians has performed the first near-total face transplant in the United States. An Ohio woman has received America's first near-total face transplant, it has been reported.

A team of Ohio doctors have replaced 80 percent of a woman's face in what is considered the world's first nearly complete facial transplant.

Doctors from the surgical team will detail the procedure at a news conference on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 1 p.m. (EST) at the Intercontinental Hotel & Conference Center, 9801 Carnegie Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44195.
